Traffic Exchanges
Traffic exchanges are programs where you can submit your site to get traffic.
You must view another person's site to get hits to your own site. The number of sites you must view to get one visitor to your site depends on the exchange's ratio (for example: 2:1, which means that you have to visit two sites to get one visitor).
Some traffic exchanges reward their members with cash, prizes, or credits.
There are two types of traffic exchanges:
- Autosurf (do not confuse with the "surf for money" autosurfers), which allow you to automatically set your browser to "watch" sites.
- Manual surf. which require an action from you to credit each site you visit. That action may be clicking on a number or a link after a set time.
As you can imagine, the quality of visitors you get with autosurf exchanges is not the same as you get in manual exchanges. You must choose the exchanges that fulfill your needs.
Before signing up for a traffic exchange, you should read the FAQ and terms to make sure you don't get any umpleasant surprises later on. Some very useful aspects to keep in mind are:
- Fraud control: it's important that the site catches members who do not play by the rules (bot users, etc.)
- Targeted categories for surfing so that your visitors will be interested in the site they see.
- Detailed stats. This is very important, but it's also important that you keep your own stats.
When choosing a new traffic exchange, you should start by promoting only one of your sites. And you should promote that site only at that new exchange for a while, until you are sure that the stats provided by the site are accurate. |
